I’m absolutely fascinated by the creatures found in medieval tapestries, paintings and architecture of historic buildings.
This one is a creature from the roof of a local church. Carved in the 15th century by skilled crafts (most likely) men, who perhaps knew about exotic animals from distant lands but could only imagine what they may look like.
Having featured in several of my sketchbooks, today it jumped into collage! I’m wondering now, what this two humped creature may look like in different colours. I may make some more!
Anyone else love mythical beasts and curious creatures?
